WHAT WE DO

  1. Spread awareness through different media about the recommendations from the leading research organisations as to the problem of food security and global warming and the utility of palms in handling the situation.

  2. Collect different species of palms and spreading them  to different areas as palms are hardy and easy to grow.

  3. In the given situation where  food production system, and transportation  being responsible for about 25% each of global GHG emissions  the Palm Planet mission primarily is to attempt to mitigate the problem by promoting required number of different palms everywhere so that they  can serve as sources of immediate dialy food in normal times, and as emergency standbys in times of crisis.

  4. It is proposed to bring together the players (the people who cause  pollution,  the food producers, and the consumers) in the field and work unitedly to cause plantation of required numbers of such palms to offset their respective carbon footprints.  A separate mechanism is being worked out to bring all players to one platform and proceed further with clear cut goals at local, village, city, national, and international levels.

  5. Sensitize general public, organisations, researchers, scientists  and the governments about the relevance of palms for the referred problems and work for inclusion of palms in their respective policies.

  6. Spread palms into deep forests so as to make palms sourced food (fruits, tubers, leaves, sap) is available to wild animals and the problem of wild animals and human conflicts reduced.

  7. Identify super plants in different species of palms with high pedigree with early maturing characteristics and try propagation through tissue culture techniques.
